We spoke to Wynonna Earp star Melanie Scrofano about season 2, Wynonna’s darkness, and the Scarlett O’Hara of it all.

In case you haven’t heard the news: Your new favorite show Wynonna Earp is coming back for season 2! At San Diego Comic-Con 2016 we spoke to the cast, and you can check out our interviews with Dominique Provost-Chalkley, Katherine Barrell and Shamier Anderson too.

In this video interview with lead actress Melanie Scrofano, find out why she wants to see Wynonna “even more messed up” in season 2, after being left “irreparably damaged” by shooting her sister:

Says Scrofano, “it’s just another loss, and it’s her fault. And yes, it’s different, yes, she had to do it this time, but she still shot her family. It’s like, the numbers she has left to count on are dwindling. And I think that she’s damaged enough that she wouldn’t go, ‘I had to do it, it’s okay.’ I think she would just self-sabotage, and just go dark places. I hope that’s where it goes.”

When asked whether Wynonna will ever recover, Scrofano says, “I don’t want that to happen too fast. Of course if she’s always just gonna be a mess, that’s not good. But what I want to see would be that she would move forward, I think she would stuff it all down — very Scarlett O’Hara, like I’ll think about it when I have time to deal with this. And I think that probably will come back and bite her in the butt, like just one of those epic… like, maybe she starts to drink even more.”
