Still in pre-production, the currently untitled Wolverine 3 movie has added Richard E. Grant and Stephen Merchant to the cast.

Update (April 27): Deadline announced that Stephen Merchant has also been added to the cast of Wolverine 3. Though no description of his character, or how large the role is has yet to be revealed. Our guess is that he has been added for some kind of comic relief. What do you think?

Original story (April 27): Very little is still known about the final solo Wolverine film featuring Hugh Jackman. What we do know is that Patrick Stewart will be returning to play Charles Xavier. Boyd Holbrook has also joined the cast to play Wolverine’s nemesis.

The latest news, reported by The Hollywood Reporter, reveals that Richard E. Grant will be playing a character described as an evil mad scientist.

With no news yet on what the plot will be, it’s hard to make any guesses at what this could mean for the film! However, it’s hard to imagine that Grant could disappoint as a villain. Wolverine 3 will be directed by James Mangold, and written by Michael Green and David James Kelly. The film is currently scheduled for release March 3, 2017.

Wolverine fans don’t have to wait until 2017 to see him though, as Hugh Jackman will be appearing in X-Men: Apocalypse. The recently released final trailer for the film teased at his appearance, which had not yet been announced. It seems that his appearance in that film will be small but should get fans ready for his final solo film!
