Pottermore has announced a new app coming to iOS and Android, and it sounds like it’ll be a more modern version of the official Wizarding World website.

In a blog post, Pottermore says the Wizarding World app will be the home to exclusive features and quizzes, as well as a new “fanzine” called Wizarding Weekly. More features are in the pipeline too — Pottermore promises they’re “working on even more ways to make the new app as magical as possible.”

Though a release date was not announced, Pottermore says those in New Zealand will be the first to be able to download before it rolls out across the rest of the world.

One hopes that the new Wizarding World website’s Wizarding Passport will be a part of the new app. They asked fans to create these passports with our Hogwarts House, Patronus, etc., but so far they’ve been nearly useless. I imagine that Pottermore will also use the app to send out news updates via push notifications.

A small peek at the app (behind Dumbledore) appears to show a clean card-like user interface, where fans can swipe left and right to read the latest features:

The news comes as the Wizarding World’s digital footprint rapidly expands. In June, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite was released and a new Harry Potter web series enters development. Warner Brothers and production company Twenty Twenty are currently casting for a series in which fans discuss what their Hogwarts House means to them.

We’ll let you know when the Wizarding World app is released in other countries. Stay tuned!
