The CW has issued early renewals to some of its most popular shows. But what about the dramas left on the bubble? They won’t all get renewed, so which will be cancelled? Vote for your favourites! (Updated.)

Earlier this week, we saw the renewal of The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, and 90210. Gossip Girl, while not officially confirmed, also seems very likely to be renewed. That leaves the fates of Nikita and freshman dramas The Secret Circle, Hart of Dixie, and Ringer up in the air.

Considering how many high-profile pilots The CW is considering for the 2012-13 television season (including The Selection, Beauty & the Beast, The Carrie Diaries, Cult, and Arrow), it is unrealistic to expect them to not cut at least one (and probably two) of their current shows. And none of the ratings for the four bubble shows have been spectacular, so it’s pretty much wide open at this point.

You can check the status of the shows we cover on Hypable on our Renewal Checklist, but to give a little insight into the chances of each show, we’ll briefly go through them here:

Nikita: This show would be heading into its third season if it were to be renewed. And while not a stellar ratings performer, this drama is particularly popular internationally. Further, many are speculating that if the show were to be picked up, The CW would commit to at least two more seasons to ensure the show qualified for all-important syndication (for which it would need 100 episodes). It’s pretty much 50/50 for this show, but we aren’t too worried about it yet.

Hart of Dixie: This is arguably the safest of the new dramas. It’s seen pretty steady ratings over the season, already has a dedicated fanbase, and has a strong viewership online. The appeal of a drama/romance/medical show set in a charming small town in the South coupled with the star value of Rachel Bilson seems to work for this show, and it manages to appeal to a slightly older audience while not alienating younger viewers.

Ringer: Sadly, despite the Sarah Michelle Gellar-factor, Ringer seems most likely to be cut. Its ratings have been terrible, and there seemed to be very little hype surrounding its finale. With a show that should in theory have a lot of watercooler value, there’s just not enough buzz or dedication from fans. That said, there are viewers who absolutely love this show (we’re betting some of you reading this are feeling a little put out right now), so we’ll have to wait and see. But we’re not gonna keep our hopes up for this one.

The Secret Circle: Now, we at Hypable are particularly worried about this one seeing as we do a podcast about it (and The Vampire Diaries), but sadly The Secret Circle’s chances are probably only slightly better than Ringer’s. While it works fairly well coupled with The Vampire Diaries, the pairing of the two shows wasn’t as successful for The CW in terms of ratings numbers as the network had hoped. The first season has certainly had its flaws, but as any Vampire Diaries fan knows, sometimes a show needs a season or so to grow into its full potential – and while Kevin Williamson has moved on since setting up the series, we’re hoping his affiliation with the show might still work to its advantage. There is a pretty decent amount of fan support for The Secret Circle, too, and as our own Laura has pointed out, the fact that apps were recently launched for the show seems to indicate that the network is still interested in investing in the show.

But after all those attempts at logic reasoning, we’re sure you’ve all still got loads of opinions and hopes of your own! So vote in the poll for what shows you’d most like to see renewed (you can choose two), and share your thoughts and theories in the comments.

This poll has now been closed following the cancellation and renewal news for Ringer, Hart of Dixie, Nikita and The Secret Circle. Like we predicted, two were cancelled and two were renewed – congratulations, Nikita and Hart of Dixie fans!
