Vanessa Hudgens is gearing up to share the big screen with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.

According to Variety, High School Musical alum Vanessa Hudgens has joined the cast of the next installment of Sony’s Bad Boys franchise, Bad Boys 4 Life.

Hudgens isn’t the only new cast member to join the ranks of the third installment in the franchise.

Riverdale star Charles Melton and The Hunger Games alum Alexander Ludwig have also joined the cast of the forthcoming action flick.

Hudgens, Ludwig, and Melton are all set to play members of a highly specialized police unit.

The group meets up with original Miami Police Department Bad Boys Marcus Burnett (Lawrence) and Mike Lowrey (Smith) after a new threat emerges in Miami.

Behind the camera, Jerry Bruckheimer is returning to executive produce on the project.

Meanwhile, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are set to serve as directors. Peter Craig, whose past credits include The Hunger Games: Mockingjay and Transformers, has penned the script for the upcoming action comedy.

Originally Sony had set a 2018 release date for Bad Boys 4 Life. That date has since been pushed back, and now the studio has set a release date of January 17, 2020 for the highly anticipated threequel.

The third installment of the franchise isn’t the only Bad Boys entity in the works.

Also coming down the pipeline is a Bad Boys spinoff starring Jessica Alba and Gabrielle Union.

Union will reprise her role as Syd Burnett, only this time she’ll be teaming up with a new partner (Alba’s Nancy McKenna) as they take on some of the most dangerous criminals in Los Angeles.

Titled L.A.’s Finest, the Bad Boys spinoff series is set to premiere via Spectrum’s online streaming platform sometime in 2019.
