The 1986 cult classic Troll is getting the remake treatment with an animated film and TV series. They’re now calling it Troll: The Rise of Harry Potter, Jr., because they CAN.

Admit it: if you had the rights to a franchise which had a character named Harry Potter in it, you’d get that out there immediately and cash in on the clickbait value alone!

Coming Soon reports that the 1986 fantasy movie Troll is making a comeback. John Carl Buechler, writer and director of the original movie, will be co-producing the new animated 3D movie, along with Peter Davy.

The cult horror movie Troll follows the Potter family of Harry Sr (Michael Moriarty), Anne (Shelley Hack), Wendy (Jenny Beck) and Harry Jr (Noah Hathaway), who move to San Francisco and encounter a wicked troll king, who just so happens to invade their new apartment complex in search of a mystical ring.

The young Harry Potter finds himself in the middle of a gruesome battle between the troll king and a powerful witch. And in the end, Harry Potter is the only one who can defeat the powers of darkness.

We swear we’re not making this sh** up.

Here’s the original trailer for the movie (where you can also spot a young Julia Louis-Dreyfus):

Patricia Arquette has signed on to voice the witch, with Baxter Bartlett playing our brand new Harry Potter. (Who is actually the original Harry Potter, we guess, since this was released 11 years before J.K. Rowling penned her novels.)

Now, if they decide to spin this conveniently-named franchise into a book series, we really will have those #NewHarryPotterBooks! Who’d have thunk it?

‘Troll: The Rise of Harry Potter, Jr’ is slated for a 2017 release
