Tiffany Haddish will be going for the gold in for her next big screen project.

According to Deadline, actress Tiffany Haddish has officially signed on to star in Game1’s upomcing sports biopic about Olympic gold medalist, Florence Griffith Joyner— better known to fans as “Flo-Jo.”

Joyner is a three time Olympic gold medalist who is credited for helping to popularize track and field. She’s also well known for setting records at the 1988 Olympics— particularly in the 100 m and 200 m— that have yet to be broken by anyone since.

Flo-Jo’s legacy in the sport endures despite the fact that she passed away in 1998 at the age of 38 from an epileptic seizure.

In addition to starring as the gold-medalist, Haddish will also be serving as a producer on the project.

“I am looking forward to telling Flo-Jo’s story the way it should be told,” said Tiffany Haddish in a statement. “My goal with this film is making sure that younger generations know my ‘she-ro’ Flo-Jo, the fastest woman in the world to this day, existed.”

Also on board to produce is Florence Griffith Joyner’s husband and former coach, Al Joyner, who will also serve as a creative consultant for the film. Currently, Joyner is working with Haddish to train her to take on the role of the late athlete.

“Working with Tiffany has been a great pleasure – she is incredibly dedicated, focused, and committed to portraying the spirit of Florence accurately, whose legacy of making a difference in the world will live on for generations to come,” said Joyner in a statement.

“I hope that this film touches all who see it and inspires people to BE the change the world so desperately needs right now!”
