After months of waiting, Thor: The Dark World finally comes out this Friday, November 8. We’re so pumped for this movie that we cannot even possibly begin to contain our excitement.

We have high hopes for Thor: The Dark World. From what we’ve seen in its theatrical trailers and TV spots, the upcoming movie looks like an epic adventure that is going to be Thor’s biggest outing so far.

While we love watching the original Thor, as well as the Thor storyline in The Avengers, there’s part of us that finds Thor’s character slightly underwhelming when compared to the other Avengers, or even Loki. While we love watching him fight the bad guys and add to his “greatest hits,” we’ve really just wanted more for his character.

But Thor: The Dark World looks like a whole new ballgame. From start to finish, we imagine this movie to be a nonstop thrill ride with a lot of great character development. We predict that it will keep our eyes glued to the screen until the very end (and then some). And this is just our perception of the film from seeing the trailer alone.

While we honestly have an innumerable amount, here are just five of our many reasons why we cannot possibly wait to see Thor: The Dark World.

The stakes are much higher.

This time around, the threat is from an enemy that we haven’t yet encountered in the Marvel cinematic universe. The Dark Elves, led by Malekith, want to plunge the entire universe into darkness. In Thor and The Avengers, the stakes just seemed considerably lower. Though the situations in each movie were relatively dire and affected the lives of millions, being plunged into complete darkness by the hands of the Dark Elves seems much more threatening. Plus, it affects all worlds, not just Earth or Asgard alone. It’ll be interesting to see not only how Thor deals with the threat of permanent widespread darkness, but also the way in which the film itself presents the threat.

We have a better understanding of the characters and their relationships to each other.

Thor was the origin story. It not only had to tackle the mythology of the Asgardians, but the film also had to ground their magic in a way that makes it appear possible. Above all else, the film had to make us feel invested in the characters themselves. The first movie just had a large burden to bear. The Avengers then came along and expanded upon the brothers’ relationship, leading us into Thor: The Dark World.

We’re excited to see the relationship dynamic between Thor and Loki now that we know more about them as individuals. Plus, we’re interested to see how they relate to one another after Loki tried murdering Thor in the first film, seemingly died, and then came back to take over Earth. All of the Marvel movies are character-driven by design, so we can’t wait to see where all of our favorite Thor characters go from here.

Jane Foster is going to Asgard.

We definitely have a feeling that Jane will not be sitting on the sidelines in Thor: The Dark World. Why? Because Thor beams her into Asgard in the trailer and we see quite a bit of her interacting with non-Earthlings. In the first film, she wasn’t around as often as we would have liked. There just wasn’t enough room for her in Thor’s personal discovery story arc. And The Avengers apparently only had room for one lady friend/romantic interest, and that was Pepper Potts. Now, don’t get us wrong. We love Pepper. We just didn’t like how Jane merited only one mention in the entire movie.

So, what we’re really trying to say is that we’re super excited for more Jane Foster. If the short scenes in the trailer are any indication, we’ll be watching her discover Asgard and become an integral part of the movie’s plot. We can’t wait to watch her trip to Asgard and see her discover new things about the universe.

Thor now not only has leadership abilities, but can also work well with a team.

Two of the biggest lessons that Thor learned in Thor and The Avengers were leadership and teamwork, respectively. From the looks of the Thor: The Dark World trailer, it looks like he’s going to need both of those. Because he’s the movie’s namesake, we expect that the fate of the universe will end up in Thor’s hands. But, this time around, we know that when the time comes, Thor will be more than capable of stepping up and leading the fight against Malekith and his Dark Elves.

In terms of teamwork, if Thor hadn’t learned how to cooperate with people that he didn’t necessarily like or get along with in The Avengers, there’s no way he would be able to work with Loki. Thor would never have been able to ask him for help, nor would he be able to trust him enough to work with him. We really like how Thor has developed as a character, especially when it comes to these two traits.

Loki wears a green V-neck shirt.

We don’t know when or how green V-neck shirts made their way to Asgard but, at this point in time, we’re pretty happy they did. Besides the obvious fact that the shirt makes Loki look pretty good, we like the V-neck because it reminds us of Loki’s “humanity”: how he always felt like the lesser son, how he was “adopted” by Odin when he was an infant, and how he’s just looking to prove himself as worthy. When we see Loki in the Thor: The Dark World trailer, he has been stripped of everything that he used to hide behind and is being held prisoner in his own home.

Mostly though, we like how the V-neck shirt looks on Loki. Yes, we’re being a bit superficial, but can you honestly blame us in this case?
