Jordan Bolger joins The 100 season 5 as ‘cocky space explorer’ Zeke Shaw.

It looks like we have our first character from the Eligius prison ship transport: As revealed in a TV Line exclusive, 22-year-old British actor Jordan Bolger (Peaky Blinders) has been cast in The 100 season 5.

Zeke Shaw is a “self-professed adrenaline junkie brimming with brains, wit and bravado.” (Raven’s soulmate, anyone?)

He’s the first new character revealed, and unless space is just brimming with rogue humans we can probably assume that he’s on the Eligius prison transport ship that Clarke spied in the final moments of the season 4 finale, after a six-year time jump.

The TV Line description of the man with the best name ever reads:

“Zeke has a passion for uncovering the secrets of the universe, which led him to join a space mission to a distant solar system. But fate is sending him back to Earth in Season 5, where he’ll find the ‘charred remains of his old world, tribal warfare, shifting alliances and a brutal fight for humanity’s survival.'”

Interestingly, it doesn’t appear that Zeke is a prisoner — or, if he is, the prisoners were given a choice whether or not they wanted to join the mining mission.

Notably, the Eligius transport ship is full of people that left the Earth behind not long before the apocalypse in 2052, meaning that they remember a society akin to our own.

This is sure to shake up the dynamic, as both the Grounders and the people of the Ark have developed new societies that will probably shock the Eligius prisoners — all of whom have been in cryo sleep for a very, very long time.

We learned at SDCC 2017 that three characters aboard the prison transport ship would be of particular importance. One of them will be a female leader, and one of them will be a love interest for an existing cast member.

Showrunner Jason Rothenberg further revealed that the newcomers will “seem like villains” and “will be a threat” to our heroes, but “we’re gonna find some guys in there that we really like.” Will Zeke be a friend or a foe? He sounds pretty likeable from the description, so I’m guessing the former!

I really look forward to meeting Zeke Shaw and seeing how he’ll fit into the ensemble.

The 100 returns in early 2018.
