With The Witcher 3 Switch release date’s announcement, we can all put any doubts we have to rest that the epic CD Projekt title is coming to the home console/portable hybrid console.

The Witcher 3 Switch release date has been confirmed at the 2019 Gamescom conference, which is the largest gaming convention in the U.K. With a few alterations, but with all of the DLC content released for the hit title thusfar, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition will release for the Nintendo Switch just before Halloween on October 15, 2019.

In order to get this massive open-world game running on the Nintendo Switch, CD Projekt sacrificed some quality over quantity. Docked, the game will run at a decent 720p; when playing the game portably, it will run at a 540p resolution. Gameplay reports claim that the difference in graphical quality isn’t all too terrible on the Switch’s relatively small screen.

The Witcher 3 will take over 100 hours to complete, rivaled only on the Switch by The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild‘s massive open world.

In The Witcher 3, Geralt’s mission to track down the Child of Prophecy will take players on a journey through the dangerous terrain of The Witcher series.

Nintendo seems to be making an effort to bring mature, open-world titles to the Switch, with The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim remaining one of the shining examples of this technical feat. As the Nintendo Switch utilizes cartridges, along with a smaller processor to allow for undocked gaming, bringing any open-world title to the console requires some creative workarounds.

The Witcher TV show recently revealed a first look at live-action adaptation. Henry Cavill will lead the book adaptation as Geralt, with Executive Producer Lauren Schmidt helming the Netflix series. While we do have a The Witcher 3 Switch release date, the TV show adaptation still has a Q4 2019 release window.
