Last week’s hum-drum episode of The Walking Dead season 5 ended on a very interesting cliffhanger.

Despite a generally boring hour of television last Sunday (hey, they can’t win ’em all), viewers received a treat when they were introduced to a new character named Aaron during The Walking Dead season 5, episode 11. Aaron, as comic readers know, is a recruiter for the Alexandria Safe Zone which may be Rick and company’s next major destination.

While the show could certainly veer off course from The Walking Dead comic series, we think it’s likely that Rick will decide to follow Aaron to Alexandria so his gang can finally enjoy a secure home.

In light of the recent tragedies they’ve faced, Rick will proceed cautiously before he agrees to go with Aaron. In a preview for next week we see Rick interrogating the new character. (We hope in this episode Rick takes a look around his current “home” – a barn that can barely keep out zombies – and reminds himself that they’re in desperate need of a legitimate safe house):

Aaron’s job at Alexandria (again, according to the comics) is to find people he believes won’t present any harm to his community. The water supply he left for Rick and co. in last week’s episode was probably a way of testing the group. Aaron probably watched them as they considered the water and decided not to drink it in case it was poisoned. Clearly, they passed the test.

How do you think Rick v Aaron will play out on ‘The Walking Dead’?

The Walking Dead season 5, episode 11 airs Sunday, February 22 at 9 p.m. eastern/pacific on AMC. It’ll be going up against the 2015 Oscars which’ll be airing live on ABC during the same hour.
