As The Vampire Diaries series finale draws closer and closer, so does The Originals season 4 premiere. We don’t know everything about the upcoming season, but thanks to some recently released details, we have a much better idea of what we can expect from the Mikaelsons.

The Poster

It all began with this striking poster a week or so ago. Is that featured child meant to be Hope? Is there an evil Hope storyline looming in the future? Could Klaus returning to her life bring out the more Klaus-ian side of her personality? Or is this a totally different child that we should definitely be fearful of?

It’s definitely a memorable poster, whether that is Hope or even if it ends up being a witch or werewolf child that we haven’t met yet. It would be interesting to learn that Hope makes a friend or two now that she is a child and not just a helpless infant.

Official premiere description

Next comes the official description for the premiere episode. We know that 5 years will have passed from the finale of season 3 to the beginning of season 4, but beyond knowing that Hayley will be working to bring back her Mikaelson family, details have been scarce. Check out the official description for The Originals season 4, episode 1, “Gather Up the Killers” and feel free to speculate wildly about who this mysterious person is that Marcel might seek counsel from.

FIVE YEARS LATER — On the fifth anniversary of Klaus’ (Joseph Morgan) defeat, Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) is king of the city and welcomes the un-sired vampires to New Orleans, only to find they pose an unexpected threat to his rule, leading him to seek counsel from an unlikely source. Meanwhile, as Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) closes in on the cure that will allow her to revive Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and the slumbering Mikaelsons, she faces a final task that will force her to make a ruthless decision.

First look at Christina Moses’ character

We got a still that includes Christina Moses, best known as Jana on last season’s Containment, who we know will be playing Keelin, described in this article from EW as “an openly bisexual ER doctor and the last living werewolf of her line.”

There are also those few random facts that have been floating around the internet. Hints and teases and fun things to know about what lies ahead for The Originals:

It looks like all the siblings will be around for at least a little while, at least that’s what it seems like in this behind the scenes photo that Michael Narducci posted a few weeks ago:

Last, but certainly never least, there’s that trailer that was released a couple weeks ago. If you didn’t get a chance to check it out, you can do so here.
