Aladdin star Marwan Kenzari has lined up his next big role — and it’ll find him joining forces with Charlize Theron.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Marwan Kenzari has officially joined the cast of an upcoming action thriller being produced by Skydance and Netflix.

Titled The Old Guard, the upcoming project is based off of the comic book by Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernandez.

The forthcoming adaptation centers on a group inexplicably immortal soldiers who’ve been using their immortality to fight as mercenaries in countless wars over the years they’ve been alive.

Things take a turn for the group when they suddenly discover the existence of a new immortal (a Black woman serving in the Marines). Their existence also gets put at risk when a nefarious organization ends up capturing evidence of their immortality on camera.

Kenzari, who is currently starring opposite Will Smith in Disney’s live-action Aladdin as Jafar, will play one of the immortal soldiers. Meanwhile, Charlize Theron is set to play Andy — the female leader of the immortal soldier group.

If Beale Street Could Talk vet Kiki Layne is also set to co-star in the upcoming adaptation, though there’s no confirmation with regards to who she will be playing.

Behind the scenes, Love & Basketball scribe Gina Prince-Bythewood will be serving as director on the project. Prince-Bythewood will be directing from a script written by Greg Rucka.

There’s currently no word on when we can expect The Old Guard to premiere.
