A recent tweet from voice actress Janet Varney suggests that The Legend of Korra season 2 release date could be sooner than expected.

Fans of Nickelodeon’s animated series The Legend of Korra have been waiting since June for information on when Book 2 (entitled “Spirits”) will air. April 2013 has been a popular guess among fans and cast alike, though as the month in question grows closer, that possibility has begun to seem less likely.

However, it seems that hope may flicker on. Janet Varney, the voice of Korra herself, recently answered a few questions on her Twitter account – and she seemed pretty confident that The Legend of Korra season 2 will begin airing this month.

Varney’s first tweet on the subject was speculative:

But in her second season 2 tweet, the actress seems fairly certain that April it is:

April 2013 will mark one year since The Legend of Korra‘s record-breaking premiere on Nickelodeon, and it certainly makes sense that the network would prefer to air (no pun intended) Korra on a regular schedule. We’re going to try and keep our excitement in check until such time as we receive official word on the subject of The Legend of Korra season 2… but Janet Varney’s information does give us a bit more reason to hope!

Meanwhile, Janet Varney will be attending Houston’s Anime Matsuri convention this weekend, where she will appear on a panel about The Legend of Korra. Though there is no guarantee that the panel will yield news, Hypable will keep you updates on any information coming from the convention.

Update: Janet Varney has recently updated her Twitter feed with this message:

Oh, well. Back to the waiting game, Avatar fans!

Do you think ‘The Legend of Korra’ season 2 release date is set for April?
