‘Film Crit Hulk’ of Badass digest wrote a particularly poignant letter to NBC executives on behalf of our favorite shelved comedy Community. It’s also written in all-caps, which we like to call “Hulk-style.”

Though it’s unclear just who Film Crit Hulk really is, his online persona for Badass Digest is obvious: he pens each piece in the voice and style of the infamous incredible Hulk. He has garnered quite the following thanks to his open letter to NBC Executives.

His letter began by discussing the idea of branding:

HULK KNOW YOU ARE NOT IN THE BUSINESS OF CHARITY… BUT YOU ARE STILL IN THE BUSINESS OF CULTURE.

WE SOMETIMES FORGET THAT PART. BRANDS, NETWORKS, AND INDIVIDUAL SHOWS HAVE AN ETHEREAL, YET INESCAPABLY-PRESENT CACHE. AS MUCH AS SOME NETWORKS SEEM TO BE AT ODDS WITH THIS CONCEPT AT TIMES, THE TRUTH IS THAT THEY SPEND MILLIONS OF DOLLARS TRYING TO CREATE AN IDENTITY. SO OF COURSE IT MATTERS. BUT WHY IS NETWORK IDENTITY SO NECESSARY? FOR LONG-TERM BUSINESS EFFECTS, OF COURSE. HECK, BRAND IDENTITY IS THE ONE THING THAT A NETWORK CAN RELY ON IN THE EVER-CHANGING LANDSCAPE OF TELEVISION.

This well-written beginning used words we never expected from The Hulk: ethereal and cache (people can surprise you). The Hulk then describes how he understands that cutting the show made sense from an economic standpoint, but, he argues, the decision about the show should be about more than profit. The Hulk even concedes that he knows it is a tough decision, but he begs the following:

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO IS MAKE A CHOICE.

HULK IS NOT SO SIMPLE-MINDED AS TO CHALK THIS ALL UP TO A SIMPLE MATTER OF BLACK AND WHITE DECISION MAKING. THIS IS ABOUT AS GREY-SCALE AS IT GETS. BUT WHEN IT COMES TO THE NATURE OF THE RESULT, THEN THERE IS A WAY IN WHICH THIS IS ALL SO REMARKABLY CLEAR:

YOU ARE DECIDING WHAT MATTERS TO YOU …

SO, NAMELESS NBC EXECUTIVE, WHAT MATTERS TO YOU?

TO PUT IT IN THE LEAST-JUDGMENTAL WAY HULK CAN THINK OF, HULK WILL PHRASE THE QUESTION DIFFERENTLY:

1) DO YOU WANT TO BE PART OF A NETWORK THAT STEADFASTLY SUPPORTED ONE OF THE MOST BRILLIANT SHOWS ON TELEVISION UNTIL ITS LOGICAL CONCLUSION? OR 2) DO YOU WANT TO BE PART OF A NETWORK THAT CANCELED ONE OF THE MOST BRILLIANT SHOWS ON TV FOR POSSIBLY-LEGITIMATE BUSINESS REASONS?

Hulk’s letter was exceedingly elegant, however, is his point already moot? NBC executives have officially said that they will bring Community back on the air in the Spring, but is the Hulk asking for more here? What are your thoughts on the letter in general?

The cast responded to the letter in its normal goofy, yet witty, fashion. Gillian Jacobs, who plays Britta, tweeted the story to her followers saying, “GILLIAN LOVE HULK.” Do you?
