The truth is, all The Mandalorian season 2 really needs is Baby Yoda being cute, but it wouldn’t hurt to add more characters and storylines.

You’d be hard-pressed to find haters of The Mandalorian season 1, and that’s largely because Baby Yoda has become the internet’s child. Season 1’s simple story arc made the show attainable for even the most casual of Star Wars fans, but it’s unlikely to be enough for another season. These are the seven things we hope to see in The Mandalorian season 2. I have spoken.

The ‘Yoda’ planet

After nine Star Wars movies, numerous books, and various television shows, we still don’t know what Yoda’s race is, what planet he’s from, or really anything about him other than he’s green, short, can live hundreds of years, and is Force-sensitive.

With the introduction of “Baby Yoda” in The Mandalorian, we had hope of learning more about this species. But season 1 didn’t provide much new content other than the fact that they eat (live) meat.

The season finale of The Mandalorian season 1 saw the Armorer telling Mando Din Djarin that his new mission is to take Baby Yoda to his home planet and reunite him with his kind. We’ve only seen three beings of Yoda’s species in all of Star Wars canon, so it would be amazing to see an entire planet of them, and learn…well, anything more about them. It’s entirely possible that by the end of season 2, the mission changes before accomplished, but here’s hoping.

The Night of 1000 Tears

Another set of flashbacks we’d love to see in The Mandalorian season 2 is of the Night of 1000 Tears. Moff Gideon referred to this event during the season 1 finale, saying that it took place during the Siege of Mandalore.

Clone Wars season 7 will include the Siege of Mandalore, so it’s possible we’ll get more on the Night of 1000 Tears on that show. But how will The Mandalorian tie in that storyline, if at all? Was Moff Gideon’s reference to it just a reference? Only time will tell!

The Darksaber in action

The Mandalorian season 1 finale ended in a big way for die-hard Star Wars fans: the reveal of the Darksaber. Not only does the appearance of the Darksaber place it on the timeline, it also revealed that Moff Gideon is (or was) a Mandalorian.

Of course it will be exciting to see how our Mandalorian reacts upon realizing he’s fighting a fellow Mandalorian, but some Moff Gideon flashbacks would be even better. Hopefully season 2 will show how Gideon won the saber, not only giving us more history on this ancient blade, but also showing just how powerful he is.

A new droid friend for Mando

Mando’s parents were killed by droids during the Clone Wars, so his hatred and distrust of droids is understandable. However, over the course of The Mandalorian season 1, many droids came to his aid, either helping himself, or Baby Yoda. It wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that Mando might not be so resistant to droids anymore. As fun as it is for the show to be a romp about the adventures of The Mandalorian and his little green son, a droid sidekick would be a great addition. After all, IG-11 proved to be a valuable companion after he was reprogrammed, and can even attempt to add some humor.

Gamorreans

Pretty much the only reason why Gamorreans are even being brought up is because Jon Favreau tweeted a picture of one in his announcement of The Mandalorian season 2 release date. Unless he’s totally trolling us, it’s highly likely we’ll see more of these guys in the new season, but to what end?

Will their appearance be significant, or will they just be inconsequential thugs to a more prominent villain? Given that we’ve already seen Gamorreans act as goons for Boba Fett in the Star Wars films, it would be more interesting to see them on their own planet, doing more than being subservient to others.

Fennec Shand, alive

The internet was stoked when it was revealed that Ming-Na Wen was joining The Mandalorian cast. Unfortunately, like many other characters on the show, Fennec Shan was only on one episode. Unlike many other characters though, it seemed like she died in her episode, meaning there’s no chance of seeing her return in season 2. Except, there is actually a good chance her story is not yet over.

The end of episode 5 shows Fennec’s possibly dead body on the ground, while an unknown person approaches her. By the end of season 1, we still don’t know who the mystery person was, or what they were doing. Regardless, by including a moment like this, it’s safe to assume she’s not dead, or at least, she won’t stay dead. Whatever her role in the overall story ends up being, it’ll be great just to have Ming-Na Wen back on our screens, showing us just how much of a badass she is.

More of Pedro Pascal’s face

Okay, maybe this is more of a personal opinion than an all-around fandom desire, but let’s be real for a second. Yes, Pedro Pascal is a great actor. He’d have to be in order to show a range of emotions for a character whose face and body are completely covered by large pieces of metal. But you also don’t cast a guy like Pedro Pascal and just cover his face for 99% of the season, do you? At least let’s get that down to 95% for The Mandalorian season 2. Can we do that?

What do you most want to see in ‘The Mandalorian’ season 2?
