The 100 season 5 is returning in April 2018, prolonging the hiatus and delaying the already-finished trailer.

Dear The CW,
It’s been 2,199 days since “Praimfaya.” It’s high time for a season 5 trailer, don’t you think?!

Unfortunately, it seems we shouldn’t look for a trailer to drop from the sky any time soon.

On Sunday, The CW officially confirmed that The 100 season 5 will premiere on April 24, at 9/8c — 11 months after the season 4 finale, which aired May 24, 2017.

In an exclusive interview with Seat 42F’s Tiffany Vogt, CW President Mark Pedowitz further revealed that the season 5 trailer would be released in March.

Although it makes sense that The CW wants to drum up excitement for the season closer to the premiere date, this is disappointing news for the fandom, especially considering the trailer has been ready since December. It is particularly frustrating in light of the fan-run promotional campaigns to #PromoteThe100 and expand the series’ viewership.

However, it’s not all bad news. As pointed out by showrunner Jason Rothenberg, the new Tuesday time slot (with a The Flash lead-in for the first few weeks) is solid gold, scheduling wise.

As for The 100‘s renewal chances, Pedowitz gave this encouraging statement to Tiffany Vogt:

Pedowitz is quoted by The Tracking Board as saying that no formal decision about whether to cancel or renew The 100 for season 6 will be made until May.

Said Pedowitz, “I’m a big fan of the show, I’ve always been a big fan of the show, so hopefully we’ll get there.”

In lieu of a trailer, Rothenberg has been sharing some tantalizing previews on Twitter, some of which you can see below, teasing reunions and confrontations and revealing some of the new character looks:

And hey, the good thing about an extra-long hiatus is that it gives us more time for speculation and analysis, and I know the fandom is working hard every day to promote the series and bring in new viewers. With the teasing images from Rothenberg and upcoming interviews and convention appearances by cast and crew, I think we can make it through the spring.

‘The 100’ season 5 finishes production

Saturday, January 27 marked The 100 season 5’s final day of filming.

While there is still plenty of post-production work to be done, principal photography on all 13 episodes has now been completed.

Jason Rothenberg and the actors have shared some teasing images from the finale, which you can view below:

‘The 100’ season 5 episode titles

The 100 season 5 premiere episode is titled “Eden.” The season is 13 episodes long, which means that even without accounting for in-season breaks, season 5 will take us through at least July 17.

The remaining 12 episode titles have been revealed by SpoilerTV; responding to our title breakdown article, Jason Rothenberg and executive producer Aaron Ginsburg revealed that not all the titles are accurate.

But as of now, the final/presumed episode titles for season 5 are:

5×01 “Eden”
5×02 “Red Queen”
5×03 “Sleeping Giants”
5×04 “Pandora’s Box”
5×05 “Shifting Sands”

Episode 5×10 will be directed by Henry Ian Cusick (Kane) and written by Shawna Benson and Julie Benson.

Here is the official synopsis for The 100 season 5:

“For four seasons, THE 100 have fought to survive. That fight has torn them apart, turned them against each other, and taken the lives of their closest friends. Season Four introduced our heroes to the harsh truth that the human race is doomed to face an unbeatable enemy: the remaining nuclear reactors on Earth have melted down and are setting the atmosphere on fire. Our heroes had very little time to prepare for the worst, with every possible solution disappearing almost as quickly as they were able to come up with them. With a literal countdown to the end of the world, our heroes will be forced to go to unimaginable lengths to make it out alive – with or without each other. In the aftermath of Praimfaya, they must begin again, and with Season Five our heroes will have to examine their responsibility to the new place they call home, and the future generations who will inhabit it. Can they begin again and celebrate what remains, or will the frailties of human nature cost them their one chance to rise from the ashes?”
