Supergirl season 2 has cast Kara’s new boss, Snapper Carr, and lesbian detective Maggie Sawyer.

Ian Gomez will play Snapper Carr in Supergirl season 2, reports EW. The role will be recurring, and he will first appear in the second episode of season 2.

He is described as a “headstrong, sharp-witted” journalist who is hired by Cat Grant to serve as editor-in-chief of CatCo Magazine. His “commitment to hard-hitting journalism pushes CatCo reporters to dig deeper in the pursuit of excellence.” Moreover, he’s not shy about telling others what he thinks of them, which “pushes Kara in unexpected ways.”

We imagine that Calista Flockhart working on the show in a more limited capacity in season 2 necessitated the introduction of a character like Snapper Carr, who will be a more consistent presence at CatCo.

Gomez’s numerous credits include Cougar Town, The Drew Carey Show and Felicity.

Additionally, Floriana Lima will play Maggie Sawyer, reports THR. She will be a series regular.

On Supergirl, Maggie will be a National City detective who is interested in cases dealing with aliens. When the role was first announced as being cast, it was noted that she works for the Science Police, a newly-formed group dealing specifically with aliens and metahumans.

In the DC Comics, Maggie Sawyer began her career with the Metropolis Special Crimes Unit and frequently interacted with Superman. She later moved to Gotham City where she worked with Batman and had a romantic relationship with Batwoman.

Lima’s credits include The Family, Allegiance and The Mob Doctor.

Supergirl season 2 will also introduce Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent/Superman and Lynda Carter as the president of the United States.

Supergirl season 2 premieres Monday, October 10 at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
