It was announced at Comic-Con that Twilight‘s Peter Facinelli will be joining Supergirl in a recurring role.

Facinelli will play Maxwell Lord, who is “a green tech billionaire who enjoys a friendly rivalry with Cat Grant and a fascination with National City’s newest arrival — Supergirl,” according to Warner Bros.

“Greg [Berlanti], Ali [Adler] and I have been fans of Peter for years,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said. “We’re beyond thrilled to have him join us on Supergirl’s first adventures bringing the iconic Maxwell Lord to life.”

Maxwell Lord has a mixed history in the comics, acting as both hero and villain at various times. However, Facinelli was introduced in the context of discussing villains who will appear in season 1, so it seems likely that will be his role.

The other season 1 villains revealed by the EPs were Reactron and Livewire.

In the comics, Benjamin K. Krullen, aka Reactron, was a member of the U.S. Army when he was injured on duty. To keep him alive, he was given a special suit called the StarSuit. He would go on to become a member of Supergirl’s rogues gallery.

Livewire, meanwhile, is actually one of Superman’s rogues. She has electricity powers and turned to crime after losing her job at a radio station.

Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist (Kara Zor-El/Supergirl), Mehcad Brooks (James Olsen), Chyler Leigh (Alexandra “Alex” Danvers), Jeremy Jordan (Winslow “Winn” Schott), David Harewood (Hank Henshaw) and Calista Flockhart (Cat Grant).

Supergirl will premiere on Monday, October 26 on CBS.
