More from Disney’s CinemaCon panel today in Las Vegas, Nevada: The mouse house intends to release a standalone Star Wars film in between Episodes VII, VIII, and IX.

This means we’ll have a Star Wars movie every year beginning in 2015 for the next several years. In addition, we learned today that Disney intends to release Episode VII in the summer of 2015 (previously we only knew the year, not the season).

Episode VII will be directed by J.J. Abrams and penned by Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3).

News of Star Wars standalone films is not necessarily new, but the plan to release one every summer is. Rumors state that the Star Wars standalone films could focus on Han Solo, Boba Fett, and Yoda.

Disney said today that they plan to release Episode VIII in 2017 and Episode IX in 2019. So, standalone films would hit theaters in 2016, 2018, and maybe even 2020.

The Star Wars franchise was re-awakened when Disney purchased Lucasfilm in October. Since then, besides huge movie plans Disney has shut down Lucasarts and also began putting a Star Wars theme park into consideration.

Is Disney making a good move by going all in on Star Wars, or will they be flooding the market with too much material?

Also at CinemaCon today, Disney set a date for Pete Docter’s Pixar film Inside Out and screened Monsters University for the first time.

Thanks, Coming Soon.
