Setting aside the irony that Fox now owns the rights to Marvel legend Stan Lee’s life story, this is pretty exciting news!

Even if you don’t know Stan Lee by name, you’ll probably recognize his face. He’s the former president and chairman of Marvel Comics, and his influence extends into the film industry as an executive producer on most of Marvel’s movie and TV adaptations.

He’s also the old guy you see in every Marvel movie that has a funny line or strange gag.

Fans have come to expect his cameo each time they head to the theater for a new chapter in the MCU, and the hilarity that comes with seeing him onscreen, if only momentarily, is usually worth the wait.

But more casual fans may not know the details about Lee’s life and his influence over the comic book industry. He created the Fantastic Four alongside Jack Kirby, as well as the likes of the X-Men and the Avengers, among many more.

Lee truly started at the bottom of the industry, working for his uncle, and found himself all the way at the top.

Hopefully, now that Fox has acquired his life rights, more people will be able to see all that Lee has accomplished.

According to Variety, Temple Hill will be taking on the project, with Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey in charge. They’ve both worked on the Twilight and Maze Runner series.

There are no writers, directors, or actors attached to the project just yet, but given the scope of material to work with and the chance to tell the story of such a prolific man in the comic book industry, writers and directors are sure to be lining up for their chance.

Temple Hill has put out plenty of other successful projects, such as The Fault in Our Stars and Paper Towns. They will also be working on the Power Ranger reboot film, as well as the adaptation of Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda.

Who do you imagine could be playing a young Stan Lee?
