Sleepy Hollow season 3, episode 13, “Dark Mirror,” is set to air March 3 and it has me wondering…is that horrible thing in the trailer really the devil?

In every show about the apocalypse and the Devil you’re going to naturally have to show, well, you know… the Devil himself. Ranging from Supernatural, to Charmed (even though he was called The Source of All Evil), to even the latest series Lucifer, all these shows have had to build some sort of momentum to the big Devil reveal.

…and if it’s the reveal that they show us in the trailer, I’m seriously disappointed. Take a look:

The trailer starts out interestingly enough with the description of a thing so insane that it could be any number of mythological beasts, and then we see what I presume to be the final image: some man-like thing with horns and claws that says that he’s the Devil.

I can’t tell if he’s actually the Devil or if he’s a demon pretending to be the Devil — that voice sounds kind of terrible, and he’s not frightening in the least! I would hope that after three seasons of impending doom and gloom that Sleepy Hollow would reserve the reveal of the Devil for the actual episode, not some trailer mid-way through the season.

But that’s just my opinion about it all. You could all very well be having nightmares about that thing already without the episode even airing — it’s all subjective, isn’t it?

Regardless of how you feel about the “Devil,” it’s interesting to see the show take this turn. This is clearly something that The Hidden One is cooking up…and something tells me that neither Pandora nor The Hidden One is powerful enough to call upon the Devil to do their dirty work.

I’m thoroughly more interested in Abbie’s daddy drama and the rune that she keeps drawing and hallucinating — who was it that saved her and why does she think she owes it her undying allegiance? Those are the real questions — and this “Devil” nonsense looks like it’s all fluff, so far. What do you think?

Do you think the Devil is finally in Sleepy Hollow?
