Tune in to ABC tonight to watch the first episode of Emily Kapnek’s new sitcom Selfie!

Tonight marks the premiere of Selfie, brought to you by the creator of Suburgatory and starring Karen Gillan (Doctor Who, Guardians of the Galaxy) and John Cho (Star Trek, Harold & Kumar).

The show follows Eliza Dooley, a modern-day version of My Fair Lady‘s Eliza Doolittle. Obsessed with social media, Eliza is devastated when a personal scandal makes its way online, and she decides that she needs to “re-brand” her image. For that task she enlists Henry, a marketing genius who is appalled by social media.

In the first episode we meet the main characters, which include Charmonique (Da’Vine Joy Randolph), Sam Saperstein (David Harewood) and Bryn (Allyn Rachel), and see how Henry’s magic is beginning to work. But Eliza still has a long way to go.

Intrigued? While the show has taken some heat for its controversial title, it shows a lot of promise. Gillan and Cho have excellent chemistry, and Selfie does a good job of commenting on our society’s obsession with social media without coming off as preachy.
