In a new clip from The Scorch Trials film, Thomas goes under interrogation and is asked, “Whose side are you on?”

The video opens with Dylan O’Brien’s character, Thomas, sitting in a minimalistic holding cell — a two-way mirror and all. You can watch the exchange for yourself below:

The chat opens friendly enough, with Janson (Aidan Gillen) greeting Thomas with a warm enough hello. “Thomas, thank you for seeing me. I’m sorry for the inconvenience, I was just hoping we might get a moment to chat in private,” he says. Though that in and of itself is an interesting statement, seeing as it’s clear there is a camera above the two individuals likely recording them as they speak. An element that Thomas definitely picks up on.

The conversation continues with Janson keeping it short and sweet. He’s here to ask Thomas what he remembers about WCKD. Thomas doesn’t understand why it matters, and Janson explains that it’s because he needs to know, “Whose side are you on?”

Book readers probably have a strong suspicion about which side Thomas will choose. But for those not in the know, we’ll allow the mystery to remain.
