Fans, actors and critics alike have taken to the proverbial streets of the internet in protest of the show’s omission from NBC’s midseason line-up. But now, the angered crowds may be able to rejoice.

After yesterday’s announcement that NBC will be re-structuring Thursday nights without our beloved Community (check out our coverage here), the world, it seemed, was outraged.

One reporter (correctly) said:

Community fans are, I can tell you from experience, some of the most passionate and social-networky fans in the uni-Twitter-verse.

Today, reports say the show will return to NBC at a TBD date! (This is not really good news, but it’s not bad news! Phew!)

Here’s how Community members responded to learning about the show’s removal, according to The Hollywood Reporter:

Executive producer Neil Goldman tweeted “Midseason schedule burn!” after the news broke.
To which, series creator Dan Harmon responded “Streets ahold!”
This caused actress Alison Brie to write, “Troy and Abed in the…summer??”
Show star Joel McHale then retweeted the entire dialog, adding his own comment, “Horsebot 3000 Noooo!”
As of Monday evening, there was no word from the show’s other stars, Danny Pudi, Donald Glover (who did tweet promoting his new album Camp, which hits stores Tuesday, Nov. 15), Gillian Jacobs, Yvette Brown and Chevy Chase (who doesn’t have a twitter).

We don’t know what is more disheartening: the fact that even the producers seemed shocked by the decision or that Chevy Chase doesn’t have a twitter (typical Pierce).

The Huffington Post later reported thadt Donald Glover added the best twitter comment of all:

Donald Glover then retweeted the humorous chain-tweet, adding, “Britta’d it.” Oh snap. Did NBC really just Britta’d their midseason schedule?

We would have to say … um, yes, yes they have Britta’d it. Luckily for fans, even critics are backing Community fans, but critics seem to also understand NBC’s decision due to Community‘s recent low ratings. Here are a few critics’ responses, but all of them can be found here:

“The point is, NBC is in the unique position – last place – to do whatever the hell it wants. But it needs to be a lot more creative than trying what every other network executive has tried in the past. And, bottom line, Community is a loss-leader that will engender good will. Keep it around. Treat it with respect. Toss the super loyal fans a bone,” The Hollywood Reporter’s Tim Goodman added.

“Here’s the problem with Community: It’s a guaranteed money-loser for NBC, no matter how many people on Twitter love it,” wrote Los Angeles Times’ Scott Collins on Twitter.

“Community is a mess ratings-wise, but it’s one of NBC’s few shows that still draws largely unabashed love from critics (and from its shrinking but passionate group of fans). Pulling it off the schedule temporarily given the ratings is understandable; pulling it off the schedule while leaving Whitney on is not,” wrote HitFix’s Alan Sepinwall.

All of these critics are insightful, and we agree. Community should be kept on the air due to its loyal fan base, smart satire and witty dialogue.

But here is our biggest question: What will happend to Community‘s planned Christmas musical?!?! Is it gone forever?

What are your thoughts on the reports on Community? Good or bad? Do we have another Arrested Development on our hands?
