Capcom has officially announced Resident Evil 6 with a teaser trailer after promotional images and details were leaked earlier today. 

According to Capcom, the story for the game is as follows:

It has been ten years since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Due to be by the President’s side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision. At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack. With no country safe from these attacks and the ensuing outbreaks, the entire world’s population is united by a common fear that there is no hope left.

Images of a promotional poster with the game’s logo and release date were sent to IGN by a reader earlier today. The poster reveals the game will be headed to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 20. Capcom has also announced a PC version of the game.

Venture Beat reports the team developing the game is the “same internal Japanese team that has worked on previous entries,” and that they are attempting to find a middle ground between horror and action, styling the game after Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5.

Capcom had teased the game earlier this week with he viral website nohopeleft.com which contained images and videos hinting at a new Resident Evil.
