X-Men director Bryan Singer has shed a little more light on who Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage will play in his star-studded film Days of Future Past.

Most notably, Singer says the character is not CGI based. “He’ll be himself. Not that he’ll be playing Peter Dinklage, he’ll be playing this character,” he said in an interview with IGN. “It’s not a shy character. He’s just such a phenomenal actor; I’m a huge fan of Peter’s and Game of Thrones. He was my first choice and I was really happy [about the casting]. It’s so funny to talk to him because he does that impeccable accent [on Game of Thrones] and then you talk to him and he’s this guy from New Jersey.”

IGN specifically asked if Dinklage would play the X-Men character Puck, to which the director said no.

Singer had used his Twitter to announced last week that the beloved actor had nabbed the role. He joins a huge cast made up of Ellen Page (Shadowcat), Anna Paquin (Rogue), Shawn Ashmore (Iceman), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), James McAvoy (Charles Xavier), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), and Michael Fassbender (Magneto).

X-Men: Days of Future Past is scheduled to hit theaters July 2014.

Dinklage will be seen in Game of Thrones season 3 when it premieres on March 31. A new trailer for the show’s third season is set to premiere Friday night on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
