The cast of The Newsroom is building up, with the additions of Patton Oswalt and Rosemarie DeWitt – and we have details about their characters already. Spoilers ahead.

Deadline reports that Oswalt and DeWitt are set to join the stellar cast of Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer and Olivia Munn when The Newsroom returns to HBO screens in June 2013. The pair have worked together previously on United States of Tara.

Both actors are set to portray recurring characters in the second season of The Newsroom. Oswalt will appear as Jonas Pfeiffer, the new Vice President of Human Resources at News Night’s Atlantis Cable Network. DeWitt will play Rebecca Halliday, a litigator hired by ACN to defend the cable network in a multimillion-dollar wrongful termination lawsuit. Sounds dramatic!

These are not our first hints at season 2 casting on The Newsroom. Showrunner Aaron Sorkin has previously confirmed the return of season 1 guest stars Adam Arkin and David Krumholtz.
