The very first Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them trailer just dropped, and it’s time for Harry Potter fans to do what they do best — overanalyze things.

The Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them trailer released early Tuesday gave us our first real glimpse at the Harry Potter prequel, but what does it all mean?

Admittedly, at under two minutes, there isn’t a whole lot to overanalyze here. But can you blame me? This is a brand new Harry Potter film. Let’s repeat that: A. brand. New. Harry Potter. Film. With that in mind, let’s do this baby shot by shot because why not. Indulge me on this one.

“Lumos Maxima.” Remember when Prisoner of Azkaban opened with Harry using this spell? Oh boy, I’m already crying. We’re going back to Hogwarts (sort of) kids. Strap yourselves in.

Our first glimpse of the cast is not of star Eddie Redmayne, but of Katherine Waterston, who plays Newt’s future wife, Porpentina Goldstein. Tina is the focus of the trailer, introducing us to Newt and to the crux of the film (the escaped beasts). Based on the later scenes, she seems to be speaking before the Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA), where she works. If the events she is describing only happened the day before, I am assuming this scene (and all of the scenes in this trailer) are from the very beginning of the film.

YES NEXT YEAR AND IT’S VERY EXCITING. Ahem.

Tina is either presenting her case or informing on Newt. She looks to be wearing the same clothes we see later in the trailer and appears to be carrying Newt’s briefcase. Did she come straight here after seeing him?

This is our first look at Carmen Ejogo as Seraphina. On the wall behind her we can see that this is the MACUSA, which would presumably make her the head of the Magical Congress (the equivalent of the Minister of Magic). It’s also encouraging to see a woman of color in this position, especially considering the historically inaccurate whiteness of the Fantastic Beasts cast.

Honestly, this might be the most exciting moment of the trailer. J.K. Rowling wrote this film. I’ll never be over this. And let’s take a minute for the background to these title cards. Are they all supposed to be from the same beast?

One shot for context because we’re in ye olden days. Is this the location of the MACUSA? The entire trailer is basically set there, so it would make sense.

Based on the clothes, it looks like this might again be Tina carrying the case to what I assume is the hearing before the MACUSA. The majority of the Fantastic Beasts teaser trailer has been taken from this single scene of her inside the MACUSA. Or, given the scene we see later, this could also be Jacob. Someone with better knowledge of hands, and a larger computer screen, will need to solve this for me please.

YES?

Here is the danger of Newt’s escaped beasts: Damage is inflicted and, I guess, Muggles No-Maj will start asking questions. But before they do, and in keeping with the MACUSA focus of the trailer, we see Colin Farrell as Percival Graves, a MACUSA Auror and “right-hand man of the American wizarding world’s president.” I wonder whose house this is…?

Time for the obligatory Wizarding World theme park advertising. Just kidding! This was actually an incredibly exciting moment in the trailer. The fact that WB felt they could refer to the entire Harry Potter phenomenon as “the wizarding world” and knew that everyone would understand what they meant? We’ve come a long, long way, guys.

Finally! At 1:12 we see Eddie Redmayne as Newt. He seems to have misplaced some of his Poké Balls.

Uh oh. From the sounds we quickly hear, it seems like there are still quite a few beasts inside Newt’s magical case. Just how many have escaped?

Redmayne has been on screen for approximately three seconds and I already love him more than a lot of the Harry Potter cast. Sorry not sorry.

Tina is clearly the Hermione of this film and I am 100% okay with that. “Just a smidge,” Newt says, and with those three words I am completely sold on him as this character. I can’t wait to see more of him in a full length trailer, when they have done some more filming.

That’s one powerful looking spell you have there, Mr. Scamander. Newt is in the street but doesn’t seem too concerned about doing magic; are things different in America? Behind him we can see Dan Fogler as Jacob, who is a No-Maj. Come on, Newt, isn’t this whole magic thing supposed to be a secret? At the same time, we hear someone saying, “Mr. Scamander.” I’m going to assume this is Samantha Morton as Mary Lou, the leader of the second Salemers.

YES, IT’S REALLY HAPPENING. And yes, you did hear “Hedwig’s Theme” at the end. And yes, we’re all crying.

J.K. Rowling had this to say about the trailer release:

Did you spot any Harry Potter Easter eggs in the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ trailer?
