Oscar Isaac may be heading back to outer space for his next big screen role!

According to Variety, Star Wars: The Last Jedi star Oscar Isaac is currently in negotiations to join Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated Dune reboot.

Isaacs would be playing the father of Timothee Chalamet’s Paul Atreides.

Others who have also previously joined the cast of the reboot include Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, and Charlotte Rampling.

Based off of the famous novel of the same name by Frank Herbert, the upcoming sci-fi film is set in the distant future and follows Paul Atreides (Chalamet), a young man whose family assumes control of the planet Arrakis.

The family’s jurisdiction over the planet is called into question by other competing noble families due to the fact that Arrakis is the only producer of a highly valuable resource. When Paul and his family find themselves betrayed, Paul leads a rebellion in an effort to restore his family’s name.

Co-written by director Villeneuve along with Erick Roth and Jon Spaihts, Dune is said to explore the themes of politics, religion, and man’s relationship with nature.

There’s currently no word on when we can expect Dune to hit theaters.

That being said, fans of Oscar Isaac won’t have to wait long before they see the actor back on the silver screen.

Isaac has quite a few films coming down the pipeline, including Triple Frontier (March 15, 2019) and the highly anticipated Star Wars: Episode IX (December 20, 2019).

In addition, he’ll also be lending his voice to the role of Gomez Adams in an upcoming animated take on The Addams Family (October 18, 2019).
