Looks like Olivia Wilde is gearing up to join the Marvel family!

According to Deadline, Olivia Wilde is nearing a deal with Sony Pictures that could find the filmmaker helming and directing a new Marvel film project.

The studio has not yet confirmed Wilde’s involvement, nor have they offered up many more details with regards to what the actress and filmmaker’s Marvel film would entail.

That being said, a source close to the project says that Wilde could be spearheading a movie focusing on Spider-Woman.

If the deal closes, it would find Wilde co-writing the script along with her frequent collaborator, Katie Silberman. Meanwhile, Amy Pascal would serve as a producer on the project, while Rachel O’Connor will serve as an executive producer.

A Spider-Woman would fit in nicely for Sony Pictures’ forthcoming Marvel slate, much of which seems to be focused on revving up female representation on film.

Currently, the studio is in the process of developing movies revolving around Black Cat and Silver Sable.

In addition, Sony is also hard at work on a film that would find Marvel Comic’s Madam Webb taking center stage. The aforementioned film has already found its helmer in The Defenders and Jessica Jones vet S.J. Clarkson.

As for Olivia Wilde, the Booksmart helmer is currently also set to direct the upcoming thriller, Don’t Worry Darling. Set in the 1950s, the forthcoming psychological thriller will find Wilde starring opposite Shia LaBeouf, Florence Pugh, Dakota Johnson, and Chris Pine, in addition to serving as director for the film.
