A new clip from the season premiere of The Vampire Diaries appeared online today, and we get our very first glimpse of a transforming Elena!
The last we saw Elena she was on a morgue slab because of a terrible accident, and in this clip we get the very first scene of her finding out what happened. It’s pretty juicy, so check it out below:
We imagine that this will be the very first scene of the episode, because really how much better could the opening scene be?! We see that both Stefan and Damon are there for her when she wakes up, and they both have completely different approaches to this discovery. You could practically feel Stefan’s guilt radiating from the screen as he’s explaining what happened and how Matt was safe, while in the background you can also see Damon seething with anger as he explains that Elena is dead and his brother didn’t save her instead.
This is the first scene where we see perhaps the truer side to Damon, the part of him that cared about Elena’s humanity. It’s a completely different feel from him than we originally got with the first promo video, where he was excited to get Elena to feed and become a vampire. Maybe he really does care that she was turned, and he’s turned off his humanity because he doesn’t want to empathize and see how bad Elena will be hurting during this hard time.
