Dakota Johnson is gearing up to step into the world of Jane Austen’s Persuasion.

Fans of Janes Austen’s Persuasion will definitely want to keep an eye on Netflix’s next adaptation.

On Tuesday (April 20), the streamer took to Twitter to reveal that a modern adaptation of of Austen’s timeless novel is officially on the way.

Per additional reporting by Deadline, the Netflix Original, made in partnership with MRC Film, will reimagine Austen’s protagonist, Anne Elliott, as an “un-conforming woman with modern sensibilities.”

Anne is currently living with her family who are on the brink of bankruptcy. But when Frederick Wentworth comes waltzing back into her life, Anne finds herself at a crossroads, forced to choose between giving Wentworth a second chance, or leaving the past alone.

Interestingly, Netflix and MRC Films’ feature isn’t the only Persuasion adaptation currently in the works.

Fox Searchlight is also working on their own adaptation of the beloved Austen novel. Their version will find Succession star Sarah Snook stepping into the role of Anne Elliott.

Currently, there’s no word on when we might see Netflix’s modern take on Jane Austen’s Persuasion starring Dakota Johnson debut.
