Scream season 2 just finished airing, but the show had one or two more surprises left in store for us — like the announcement of a Halloween special!

If you haven’t seen the Scream season 2 finale yet, now would be a good time to step away from this article.

Scream just revealed Kieran Wilcox as Piper’s accomplice and the season 2 killer, but his story is far from over. In a stunning show of self-control, Emma decided not to pull the trigger on the gun aimed at Kieran’s head. Instead, she let the cops take him away, where he’ll rot in a jail cell for a long time to come.

Or will he? During Scream After Dark, MTV’s Scream after show, it was announced that Scream would be getting a Halloween special, to be aired this October. We don’t know if we’ll be getting a season 3 just yet, but if we don’t, this might be the perfect way to wrap up the show so fans aren’t left wondering what would’ve happened if the series had been renewed.

During the after show, we got a brief clip of the Scream Halloween special. You can watch it below:

It’s not much to go on at this point, but it does lead to about a thousand new questions. All we see is Kieran entering his jail cell and then the camera panning up as he notices something above him. At first I honestly thought it was a dead body, but it turns out to be someone in a Brandon James mask staring down at him.

The phone call at the end of the Scream season 2 finale leads us to believe this could be Brandon James himself, but I guess we’ll have to wait until October to find out for sure what’s going on.

I will say, though, that if this is the direction the show is going in next, I’ll be pleased. I was never quite satisfied with the half-answers we got from Sheriff Acosta and Maggie Duval regarding their past. I always felt like there was so much more to say about Brandon James, the initial string of deaths, and the first generation of kids who experienced murder in Lakewood.

Are you excited MTV’s ‘Scream’ is getting a Halloween special?
