Modern Family will undergo several changes to the fifth season, with the title sequences the first to be overhauled.

Modern Family is turning five years old, and in that time we can all say that the show has progressed in a way that change is going to be for the better. The writers have not penned Modern Family season 5 yet, but we do know that the television series’ title sequences will be re-shot.

TVGuide broke the news about the new title sequences, and we welcome the new revamped title. There have been changes in the past however, with Eric Stonestreet (Cameron), Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Mitchell) and Aubrey Anderson-Emmons (Lily) having to update their section for Modern Family season 3, when Lily joined the family.

This all makes perfect sense, but, in the past season we’ve been introduced to Joe, Jay and Gloria’s new born child, and with this ABC have commissioned a new take.

“Now that the kids have grown, and we have baby Joe, it’s a good time to shoot a full new opening in front of the families’ homes,” said executive producer, Steven Levitan. There’s also the possibility that Joe may be bumped up a little bit in age, in order to just move the series on just that little bit further.

There has been no news on the content for Modern Family season 5. We expect slight tweaks made to the series, after ABC have seen Modern Family get pipped by The Big Bang Theory to claim the top spot in television comedy.

However, Modern Family is still going strong with ratings and audience reception, and we believe that come season 5, Modern Family will return to its best days yet, with the Dunphy’s.

What do you think about ABC commissioning a new title sequence for Modern Family?

Modern Family season 5 will return in 2013.
