Thanksgiving is a family holiday, so check out this Modern Family’s take on Thanksgiving. Let’s just say that the episode entails exactly what the title suggest: chucking pumpkins … and a guest appearance by Book of Mormon’s Josh Gad.   How far will the aforementioned pumpkins be chucked? The length of a football field!

Confused? So were we, until we read this synopsis from IMDb:

When an old neighborhood kid returns to town as a hugely successful internet billionaire, it gets Phil thinking of what could have been. Jay feels Manny could use a little dose of constructive criticism, and Cameron is offended when Mitchell questions the authenticity of his colorful childhood stories. It all comes to a head at Thanksgiving with the family divided between the “Dreamers” and the “Pritchetts” — and nothing settles the score like a punkin chunkin challenge.

More was explained by these quotes gathered by Wetpaint:

“There’s a bet: Can they launch a pumpkin the length of a football field?” explains executive producer Steve Levitan.
Huh? “It’s something Cam used to do in his youth,” Ty Burrell adds to the explanation.

Joining in the fun of “pumpkin chunkin” will be Josh Gad, making his guest appearance as the Phil-worshipping neighbor on this Thanksgiving episode.

In our opinion, this is better than Thanksgiving day football! What are your thoughts on this week’s episode?
