There were some recent rumors that Matthew McConaughey would star as the lead role in Chistopher Nolan’s next epic thriller, Interstellar. Now, he’s confirmed the role.

McConaughey confirmed to the Star Tribute that he’ll star as the male lead, Cooper, in Interstellar. Nolan’s films are always extremely secretive, and McConaughey did not give any other details other than that he indeed will star in the sure money-maker.

We already know that Interstellar “centers on the discovery of an energy source from the Hawking radiation from a nearby black hole. Extra-dimensional beings that control the black hole may also exist in the plot. Several plot points are allusions to general relativity and parts of Thorne’s research, including the gravitational red shift that occurs when the character is close to the vicinity of the black hole.” Sounds like another mind-bender, just like Inception and Momento!

Interstellar is due out on November 7, 2014. Nolan’s brother, Jonathan Nolan, is writing the script and Christopher Nolan is directing.

McConaughey, widely known for his part in the rom-com How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, also starred in Magic Mike last year with Channing Tatum, and will appear in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street.
