Matt Damon is the latest big name actor to join the cast of Christopher Nolan’s next film, Interstellar.

The report coming from The Playlist says they’ve learned that Matt Damon will have a small role in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. Their sources close to Damon say that the actor will only be on set for two weeks of the four month shooting schedule.

Damon joins what is already a full and, um, stellar cast. As confirmed in the official start of production press release, the cast consists of these actors: Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Bill Erwin, John Lithgow, Casey Affleck, David Gyasi, Wes Bentley, Mackenzie Foy, Timothée Chalamet, Topher Grace, David Oyelowo, Ellen Burstyn, and, of course, Michael Caine.

The press release also gave us a description of the movie that got us closer to seeing what it will be about:

The new script chronicles the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.

As we previously told you, Interstellar “centers on the discovery of an energy source from the Hawking radiation from a nearby black hole. Extra-dimensional beings that control the black hole may also exist in the plot. Several plot points are allusions to general relativity and parts of Thorne’s research, including the gravitational red shift that occurs when the character is close to the vicinity of the black hole.”

Again, we have an idea of what the premise of the film is based on the two descriptions, but we really have no idea what way the plot will go. As with any Nolan movie, expect security to be high. It’s unlikely we’ll know too much before entering the theater on November 7, 2014.

Will Matt Damon make a good addition to ‘Interstellar’?
