As we all continue to mourn the loss of Pitch, one of the baseball series’ stars will stay in the FOX family. Mark Paul Gosselaar is in talks to lead The Passage.

He joins fellow 2017 cancellation victims Genesis Rodriguez and Jennifer Ferrin (Time After Time) in the vampire pilot that tells the story of a young girl, plucked from foster care to be turned into a lethal killing machine with psychic abilities thanks to a secret government project.

Gosselaar would play the government agent responsible with delivering the young girl to the secret facility, who can’t bring himself to do it. It is later learned that this young girl could be the key to saving mankind from a rapidly-spreading infection.

The pilot also stars B.J. Britt (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Saniyya Sidney (American Horror Story), and Brianne Howey (The Exorcist series).

The series recently received an order for a second script, penned by Liz Heldens, whose previous work includes Boston Public and Friday Night Lights.
