Man of Steel 2 is reportedly already underway as the film heads to its release date at the end of the week. Warner Bros. has decided to keep director Zack Snyder and screenwriter David S. Goyer on for the Man of Steel sequel.

In what isn’t entirely shocking news, Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. has already given the go-ahead on a Man of Steel sequel, despite the film not hitting theaters for another few days. Director Zack Snyder and writer David S. Goyer will team up again for the sequel, and it’s apparently on the fast track to being made.

The promotion for the film has been incredible, and after three years of production, everyone involved will certainly be pleased to hear that the studio is willing to move forward with a sequel. This also means that they believe the film is tracking very well for a reboot.

David S. Goyer’s deal is reportedly part of a three-picture deal that he signed with Warner Bros. for Man of Steel, its sequel, and the Justice League film, which has been rumored to be in pre-production.

Deadline reports that the only question mark about the current Man of Steel production team is what Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan’s role will be in the sequel, as he was the producer for Man of Steel.

Nolan played a key role in Man of Steel, as he was a “mentor,” as well as a co-writer of the story. It’s being stated that Nolan will be more hands-off for Man of Steel’s sequel, as he’ll be busy with his next film Interstellar, which is headed to theaters in November, 2014.

Despite reviews being fairly scarce as of now for Man of Steel due to its embargo, those who have seen it have said it’s very impressive, and the studio obviously has faith in director Zack Snyder and Goyer teaming up again to continue the Superman franchise.

The world premiere was held just hours ago, so this news drops as the cast and crew are most likely still sitting in their seats as crowds are getting their first look at Man of Steel.

Man of Steel is reportedly tracking to open with $100 million or more during its first weekend, and the studio believes that the international markets will be very favorable to them as Superman’s fan base is worldwide.

While they’re chomping at the bit to start on a Man of Steel sequel, we imagine the film’s financial success is still highly important to how quick of a turnaround we’ll see for Man of Steel 2.

Man of Steel’s release date is set for June 14 and stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon, and Laurence Fishburne. Check out the first official trailer for the film and several images released of the characters.
