Fantastic news, #Lucifans. Fox have extended their deal with the Devil to give Lucifer a much-deserved second season.

That’s right, there’s no untimely demise on the cards for this show — er, though Lucifer’s mortality problem may not leave him quite as safe — as Fox will be bringing it back for season 2. And just how should we celebrate?

Yeah, that’ll do nicely.

“We knew we had something special with Lucifer, from the engaging performances of Tom, Lauren and the rest of the charismatic cast, to Len Wiseman’s visually stunning look of the show and the amazing storytelling savvy of the Bruckheimer team,” David Madden, president of entertainment at Fox, said in a press release.

The same press release announced that Lucifer is currently the network’s second-highest rated new series in the coveted 18-49 demographic, and is averaging 10.5 million total viewers across all platforms. That’s no small feat, considering it had some stiff competition in Rosewood, which was also renewed in the same announcement.

There’s no news currently on what kind of episode order Lucifer might expect heading into its second season — though we can’t help but hope for another 13-episode run. We’ve really been enjoying the condensed storytelling, which has aided in keeping the tension of the on-going plot going week in and week out.

For now, we have three more episode left to look forward to in Lucifer‘s freshman season. It returns Monday, April 11 at 9 p.m. ET, with episode 11, “St. Lucifer,” after taking a week-long break.

Here’s hoping that if some of the things we were wishing for during its freshman run don’t happen by the time the show wraps, that we’ll get them in season 2. Though I’m sure we’ll have a brand-new list by the time the second season comes around.
