The star-studded cast for Murder on the Orient Express sequel, Death on the Nile has officially been set— here’s who’ll be joining Kenneth Branagh in solving Hercule Poirot’s next big case!

Update (10/1/19): Agatha Christie’s famed detective, Hercule Poirot is heading back to the big screen in the highly anticipated follow up to 2017’s Murder on the Orient Express.

And as with the previous adaptation, returning star and director Kenneth Branagh has lined up a stellar cast of Hollywood A-listers to help bring Christie’s bestselling mystery novel to life.

20th Century Fox took to its Twitter account on Tuesday (October 1) to reveal the official cast list for their upcoming adaptation of Death on the Nile.

“In October 2020, Kenneth Branagh returns with a whole new cast of suspects for Death on the Nile,” teases the studio.

The tweet was paired with an infographic featuring the faces of the forthcoming film’s stars.

Joining Branagh in the mystery are Gal Gadot, Letitia Wright, Armie Hamer, Anette Bening, Ali Fazal, Sophie Okonedo, Tom Bateman, Emma Mackey, Dawn French, Rose Leslie, Jennifer Saunders, and Russell Brand.

Though we’ve known for quite some time of Gadot, Wright, Hammer, and Bening’s involvement in the adaptation, it’s great to see the film’s cast of key players all in one place!

Death on the Nile is set to hit theaters in October 2020.

According to Deadline, actress Annette Bening is currently in negotiations to join the cast of 20th Century Fox’s upcoming sequel to Murder on the Orient Express.

If she signs, on the Academy Award nominee would reportedly find herself taking on the role of Euphemia in the forthcoming Agatha Christie adaptation.

So who exactly is Euphemia? Those curious to know won’t be able to look to Christie’s books for answers as it seems like the character doesn’t exist in the mystery author’s 1937 novel.

With that in mind, we’ll be interested to learn more about who Euphemia is and how she fits into the folds of famed detective, Hercule Poirot’s (Kenneth Branagh), next big case.

Bening isn’t the only huge Hollywood star poised to take a trip down the Nile in the adaptation.

Other notable stars who’ve joined the Murder on the Orient Express sequel include Letitia Wright, Armie Hammer, and Gal Gadot.

Original Story (4/19/19): Letitia Wright will be taking on an Agatha Christie classic for her next big screen role.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Black Panther star Letitia Wright has officially signed on to join the cast of upcoming Agatha Christie adaptation Death on the Nile.

The upcoming adaptation from Twentieth Century Fox will serve as a sequel to 2017’s Murder on the Orient Express.

The adaptation finds Kenneth Branagh returning to reprise his role as the world’s greatest detective, Hercule Poirot, only this time he’ll be boarding a riverboat cruise instead of a train.

Wright has signed on to play the role of Rosalie Otterbourne in the adaptation — a key suspect in the mystery at the heart of the story.

Based off of Chrstie’s 1937 novel of the same name, Death on the Nile finds Poirot heading to Egypt for a much-needed vacation. Once there, the detective finds himself in the midst of a love triangle turned sour.

When murder comes into play, it’ll be up to Poirot to once again get to the bottom of things and solve the case once and for all.

As with Murder on the Orient Express, the upcoming film already boasts a stellar cast with some big names attached to star.

In addition to Branagh (who will once again serve as director on the project), Wright will also be sharing the big screen with Wonder Woman’s Gal Gadot and Call Me By Your Name’s Armie Hammer.

There’s currently no word on when the film is set to hit theaters.
