After that big twist in the penultimate episode of Legends of Tomorrow season 1, there’s one big question left hanging: Is that character really gone?

Warning: This story contains major spoilers from Legends of Tomorrow season 1, episode 15, “Destiny.”

At the end of “Destiny,” Leonard Snart sacrificed himself to destroy the Time Masters’ Oculus, a device that allowed them to manipulate time. But with Snart being one of the most popular characters in the Arrow-verse, it’s hard to imagine that he’s really dead and gone.

And, in fact, he’s not. While Wentworth Miller will not be a series regular on Legends of Tomorrow season 2, he will still be present in the Arrow-verse. Deadline reports that Miller has entered a “series regular contract” with Warner Bros. TV, which owns the Greg Berlanti-produced superhero shows — Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl.

This groundbreaking contract spreads Miller’s duties “over the different Greg Berlanti DC shows, for the time being Legends and Flash,” Deadline details.

According to Berlanti, “We always knew that [Snart] wouldn’t be a permanent member of The Waverider” because Miller wanted a short-term contract. However, “We also knew we loved him” on both Legends of Tomorrow and The Flash.

Their solution was to pitch Miller a flexible contract that allows him to recur on multiple shows simultaneously as the same character. “What it really emulates to us is the comic books themselves where there really are a cast of characters,” Berlanti explains. So, while Leonard “won’t be part of the team of Legends on board of The Waverider next year, he will have a very active role on the show.”

Miller’s deal is “the first contract not applicable to just one show,” Berlanti says. He also hopes it won’t be the last of its kind. “In success we hope to continue with other characters finding their way across all the shows.”

With Supergirl coming to The CW for its second season, there is potentially even more room for characters to spread their wings across Berlanti-produced shows.
