The Legacies season 2 spring finale is coming quicker than unexpected with episode 16 in an effort to keep our favorite cast and crew safe in the current crisis.
So, we all know that this pandemic has forced all sorts of closings and cancellations, and our network and cable TV shows are no different.
Legacies season 2 production came to an abrupt halt a couple weeks ago in an effort to protect everyone involved, which is one-hundred percent what needed to happen, but it means the Legacies season 2 spring finale will be this week’s episode.
Here’s why the ‘Legacies’ season 2 spring finale is airing this week:
Let’s start with the most official confirmation we’ve got. Our beloved showrunner took to Twitter to break the bad news and give us as many details about when we can expect to see the rest of Legacies season 2.
Julie Plec responded to some fans on Twitter:
I'm assuming that we'll finish them when we go back to shoot S3. That question is probably sitting on the low-end of a very long list of questions everyone at the CW is probably dealing with right now, so I'll give them a few beats to get back to me. ;-)

She went on to talk about how ‘Legacies’ season 2, episode 16 will be the last for a while:
We completed through episode 216 for now. It’s actually a fun accidental season finale with a good cliffhanger, so it will be temporarily satisfying until we’re able to go back and finish the rest.

But fear not if you were looking forward to the musical episode:
If we don’t eventually complete and air the musical episode I will (metaphorically, not literally) die. So I think we’ll be fine.

So, this Thursday will be the Legacies season 2 spring finale. It will serve as the end for now, until it is safe once again for cast and crew to return to shooting our favorite show.
It’s perfectly fine to be disappointed, but at the same time, it’s important for us to respect that this is not optional as long as this viral pandemic is racing across the globe.
I’m sure the Legacies cast and crew are every bit as disappointed as we are to have to end this season early, so be extra kind and maybe share some love with them this week on social media. Remind them how much we appreciate them and their hard work, and leave the sulking for untagged posts.
There will be plenty of fellow fans that are upset to see things end four episodes early, and we can commiserate together as we spend the summer pontificating all the whos, whens, whys, and hows of what we can expect in the final four episodes whenever they air.
We are lucky enough to know that Legacies season 3 is coming, too, so no matter how long we have to wait for it, all our favorites from the Salvatore School will be back on our screen again sometime in the near future.
There are plenty of shows in limbo waiting for renewal news or just trying to get to their series finale, so there is a lot to be thankful for, despite the terrible circumstances for the halt in production.
