Kristen Bell diving back into the world of Upper East Side drama.

It’s no secret that HBO Max is hard at work developing a reboot of Gossip Girl. And while the series is set to focus on a new crop of New York City elites, there’s at least one familiar name who’s already agreed to return to reprise her role in the reboot.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actress Kristen Bell has officially joined the cast of HBO Max’s updated take on Gossip Girl.

Bell, specifically has signed to be the series’ in-the-know narrator, who’s regularly heard but never seen. News of the Frozen II star’s involvement with the project is definitely cause for excitement— especially given that Bell also voiced the narrator in the original iteration of the Gossip Girl television show, which ran on The CW from 2007 to 2012.

Currently, Bell is the only cast member set to return for the upcoming reboot, which takes place eight years after the original Gossip Girl website goes dark.

Written by original show runner Josh Safran, HBO Max’s Gossip Girl will introduce audiences to a new crop of private school teens living lavish lives in the Big Apple— trailed as always, by the mysterious Gossip Girl who doesn’t hold back when it comes to airing out their dirty laundry. In addition, the series is also set to explore how the age of social media affects the original premise of the teen drama.

In addition to Safran, original creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are also on board to return as producers on the project.

For the producers, it sounds as though making sure Kristen Bell returned for the updated take was a top priority.

In a statement announcing her involvement, the producers said: “Kristen Bell has always been and will always be the voice of Gossip Girl.”

Currently, there’s no word on when we can expect HBO Max’s Gossip Girl reboot to premiere.
