Michael Chabon’s The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay will soon be coming to life over at Showtime.

According to The A.V. Club, Showtime has given a series commitment to an adaptation of author Michael Chabon’s Pulitzer Prize winning novel, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay.

First released in 2000 and set against the years prior, during, and following World War II, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay centers on Jewish cousins Joe Kavalier (a Czech refugee) and Brooklyn-born Sammy Clay. The novel follows their lives as they rise to become major players in the comic book industry.

The upcoming Kavalier & Clay adaptation finds Chabon continuing his partnership with CBS TV Studios as part of an overall deal he and producing partner Ayelet Waldman have signed with the studio. Currently, he also set to serve as an executive producer on CBS All Access’ forthcoming series, Star Trek: Picard.

In even better news for fans of the book, both Chabon and Waldman are set to serve as executive producers on Showtime’s Kavalier & Clay, in addition to serving as show runners on the forthcoming series adaptation.

Other executive producers who’ve boarded the project include Akiva Goldsman and Alex Kurtzman.

In a statement announcing the series, CBS Television Studios president David Stapf said, “Ayelet and Michael are two of America’s pre-eminent writers. From award winning novels and non-fiction to their television and film collaborations, they have a remarkable body of work. We’re thrilled to have them on our incredibly talented roster.”

Meanwhile, Chabon and Waldman added: “The team at CBS Studios is the best we’ve ever worked with. We’re looking forward with so much excitement to this next phase of our collaboration.”

Production on Showtime’s Kavalier & Clay is set to start up sometime in 2020.
