Jurassic World 3 will be expanding its cast with the addition of She’s Gotta Have It star DeWanda Wise.

Even for a franchise about gigantic dinosaurs, Jurassic World 3 looks like it’s going to be a pretty major movie.

The threequel will of course have Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard reprise their roles as Owen and Claire from the first two movies of the series.

In addition to those two big stars, Jurassic World 3 will likewise include Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum — the three leads who starred in the original Jurassic Park.

We’ll also have a few newcomers to the upcoming film. Variety broke the news earlier today that DeWanda Wise will also be joining the cast in a leading role alongside Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.

DeWanda Wise is known for her lead role in the Netflix hit, She’s Gotta Have It, a contemporary update of the 1986 Spike Lee film. She was also a breakout star in the Gina Rodriguez headlined Netflix romcom, Someone Great.

Colin Trevorrow, who directed the first Jurassic World but took a break for the second one, will be returning to direct Jurassic World 3, which he co-wrote with Emily Carmichael. The script is based on a story by Trevorrow and Derek Connolly, who wrote the previous two scripts.

Steven Spielberg and Trevorrow return to executive produce, once again partnering with producers Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley. Universal’s senior vice president of production Sara Scott is overseeing production on behalf of the studio.

The Trevorrow directed Jurassic World went on to gross $1.67 billion worldwide and is the sixth-highest-grossing film in cinema history. In addition to his directing duties, Trevorrow also consults with Spielberg and Marshall on the management of the growing Jurassic Park/World brand, which includes video games, toys, novels, animated Lego series and theme parks.

Jurassic World 3 will be released in theaters on June 11, 2021.
