Jennifer Carpenter has publicly announced that the pre-production of Dexter is well underway, and that fans will be put through an emotional roller coaster for season 8.

Jennifer Carpenter, who is more widely known as Debra Morgan in the hit television drama Dexter, has publicly announced via Twitter that today was the first read-through of the eighth season of the show.

With no surprises that Jennifer could not leak any news, hints or even teases about what we’re about to witness in season 8, we’re sure that more and more developments will arrive in the near future.

But, we can identify that the script has been finalised for the time being and that shooting will commence fairly shortly. It’s also interesting to note that Yvonne Strahovski looks increasingly likely to feature in the eighth season of Dexter after she tweeted:

Vague and almost cryptic, yes, but Dexter is filmed out in LA, and specifically, the majority of filming is shot in Long Beach, CA and not in Miami, where the story is set. With Yvonne arriving along with many of the other cast and crew, we can only hope that Yvonne, known more widely in Dexter as Hannah McKay, will return for the eighth season.

Yvonne played a pivotal role in season 7 as the core character behind season 7’s primary theme, love. Her character, Hannah McKay, falls in love with Dexter and the seventh season ended on unfinished business between Hannah and Dexter. Season 8 should bring some formal closure to their relationship, whether is blossoms or withers.

We hope that Jennifer Carpenter’s tweet is the first of many regarding upcoming behind the scenes news about Dexter and wish for the official announcements to arrive fairly soon.

Dexter returns on June 30 over on Showtime.
