The Magnificent Seven will be the final movie scored by Titanic composter James Horner, who died in a plane crash earlier this year.

James Horner, one of Hollywood’s most acclaimed film composers and frequent collaborator of James Cameron, passed away in June 2015 when his plane crashed near Santa Barbara. He was 61.

It turns out that Horner completed one final score before his death: Antoine Fuqua’s upcoming remake of the classic western The Magnificent Seven.

The Magnificent Seven isn’t out until 2017, but Horner already finished writing the music for the movie, based on the script Fuqua sent him.

Fuqua said in an NPR interview, “He did it all off the script because he wanted to surprise me. And I thought it was a gift or something. And they all came out here and they said, Antoine, James wrote the music for Magnificent Seven already, and it’s just glorious. And that’s my memory of James.”

The Magnificent Seven stars Chris Pratt, Matt Bomer, Vincent D’Onofrio, Denzel Washington, Ethan Hawke and Byung-hun Lee. It tells the story of seven outlaws who come together to help a poor village against savage thieves.

The original movie was scored by Elmer Bernstein, and its title theme remains one of the most iconic western tunes to date.

Horner also scored Fuqua’s Southpaw, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and comes out later this month. His most memorable scores included Titanic, Braveheart, Field of Dreams and Aliens.

In recent years, Horner lent his incredible talent to movies like The Amazing Spider-Man, Avatar, The Spiderwick Chronicles and Troy.
