Fear of an early cancellation for The CW zombie dramedy/mystery iZombie after a stellar pilot may be quelled for now.

Zap2It reports that the iZombie pilot pulled a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49 and 2.3 million viewers overall.

For comparison, the iZombie pilot lead-in The Flash scored 1.3 and 3.69 in the same categories.

The iZombie pilot marked the official takeover of the golden Tuesday at 9 p.m. timeslot once occupied by Supernatural. As buzz inevitably grows for the Rob Thomas created iZombie, it is likely that iZombie has all the potential to raise both ratings to The Flash and Arrow-like scores.

In our recap of the iZombie pilot, we noted the deep and intense characterizations of all major and minor characters throughout the very busy hour of television.

Searching social media for #iZombie feedbackk, we were able to find people primarily of two camps: those who made fun of the show for its namesake and therefore refused to watch the pilot, and those who did give the pilot a chance and fell in love.

All of the wit and snark of Thomas’ Veronica Mars was more than present throughout iZombie‘s pilot. As a matter of fact, the sassiness felt turned up just a notch from Thomas’ previous titular heroine.

Liv was a joy to see interact with the other characters on-screen, aided in full by both the smart script and expert acting choices by Rose McIver. Another standout character of the pilot was Dr. Ravi, played by Rahul Kohli. Although we benefitted greatly from having the subtitles turned on through some of his more muddled lines, Ravi was adorable, lovable, and as mushy as Veronica’s sidekick Wallace.

We wouldn’t be a fandom website if we didn’t give Liv/Clive shippers their recognition. Although it seems like a bit of a stretch for us, we can see a small spark developing between these two characters.

iZombie season 1, episode 2, “Brother, Can You Spare a Brain?” airs Tuesday at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
